Leaked Egyptian plot to attack Renaissance Dam

Egypt and Ethiopia claim that their relationship is in a much better position in recent times.

Andafta Media report uploaded on YouTube today about Egyptian plot to attack the Renaissance Dam raises a question whether Egypt means it when it says that the relation with Ethiopia is in good condition.

Andafta Media report also talks about friction between Egypt and Israel on grounds that Israel helped Ethiopia get Defensive Missile in the event of a possible attack against the Dam.

Amhara region president Temesgen Tiruneh speech

Amhara regional council has approved Temesgen Tiruneh as the new president of the region on Monday. He is replacing slain president of the region who held the position only for about four months, Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen – one of the leading figures within what is now Amhara Democratic Party who played a leading role for the collapse of TPLF dominated EPRDF.

Dr. Konte Musa says “there is no servant leadership”

Dr. Konte Musa was one of the speakers in the Addis Weg talk organized by the office of the prime minister in the town of Dire Dawa.

He revealed a secret, as he said it, that he is a native of Dire Dawa, although he is Afar in terms of ethnicity. He grew up and went to school in Dire Dawa. He was even asking the audience if they are familiar with a certain school principal from his school time in the town.

As regards to his twenty minutes speech, he is of the view that there is no servant leadership in Ethiopia.

He also criticizes tendency to see some political parties that work with the ruling coalition, Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Front (TPLF), as “agar” parties which translate to “supporters.” He argues that they need rather be seen as a part and parcel of the party and as key players.

Konte is one of the leaders of Afar People’s party. He returned to Ethiopia after the “change” in Ethiopia.

Mustafa Mohammed Omar : The narrative that paints Amhara people as an oppressor is wrong

Mustafa Mohammed Omar, acting president of Ethio-Somali regional state, and about 100 of his entourage were in Bahir Dar in the week of July 15.

In his speech to members of Amhara regional state council, he said that he that “we [seemingly a reference to the ethnic somali party he is leading] do not accept the narrative that paints Amhara people as an oppressor, not out of a motive to gain political gains but because it is fundamentally wrong.”

Needless to say, his, and probably his party’s, political view with regards to Amhara people demonstrates a stark difference to the narrative advanced by radical oromo ethno-nationalist who employed the view a means of political mobilization for a political motive.

Ethiopian Military veterans say they have formed 53 branches in, outside of the country

Ethiopian military veterans who were dissolved as “Derg soldiers” when Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) took power in 1991 under the guise of TPLF, are now recognized as “former Ethiopian Defense forces.”

They say, currently they have more than one million members in and outside of Ethiopia with 53 branches. Watch the interview below with Andafta Media.

Andargachew Tsige’s remark on the situation in Ethiopia

Andargachew Tsige, former secretary of Arbegnoch Ginbot 7 party – a party which transformed itself into Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice Party after merging few other opposition parties in Ethiopia, sat with “Benegerachin lay” host of Arts TV world.

Although Angargachew was talking about his latest book, “Egnam enenager Tiwuld Aydenager” which could translate to “Let us speak too so as to help the generation be clear from confusion,” he remarked about the dangerous political condition in the country.

Ezekiel Gebissa used to be a professor at Kettering University in the United States.

After Abiy Ahmed assumed the office of Prime Ministership, Ezekiel returned to Ethiopia and is given tenure at Addis Ababa University as a history professor, in the Ethiopian capital

In terms of political views, many describe him, perhaps rightly, as an ardent champion of radical Oromo ethnic nationalism and his remarks are usually charges with his political convictions.

His latest interview with Walta TV triggered outrage, perhaps as intended, among many Ethiopians.
