Ethiopian Defense Chief of Staff, General Berhanu Jula on Monday appeared on state media after several weeks of silence. The intention for his public appearance was to congratulate Ethiopians on the successful completion of the second phase of GERD filling. But he remarked on the military situation in the northern Ethiopia too.

There were rumors of ill health which he dismissed as false. He said he was just busy.

Millions of residents of Addis Ababa marched to Mesqel Square to show support to the Ethiopian Defense Force in the campaign against Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) terrorist organization and to celebrate the progress with the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) Ethiopia completed the second round filling of the GERD. The project is said to be 80 percent completed.

A captured TPLF child soldiers reveal how she found herself in war front. She said “they do not tell us where they are taking us.”

Tigray People’s Liberation Front has been recently using child soldiers in battles. The latest military venture, after the attempt in the Amhara region of Ethiopia, was in Afar region where several hundreds of TPLF forces are said to have been killed in battle.

During a panel at “Abiy Guday ” , Arts TV program that discusses key issues in the country, panelists, Dr Ercido Lendebo and Yared Hailemeskel, discusses the current situation.

Ercideo (MD) sees structural causes to the current conflict including the constitution. He says the war would not have happened had there not been a regional armed special forces. TPLF had more than 300,000 forces when it started the war in November 2020.

Sheger Times Media, a digital media, reports Sudan is building a military base within the Ethiopian territory it controlled in November 2020 after the Ethiopian Defense Force was withdrawn from the region in connection with the law enforcement operation in North Ethiopia.

Ethiopian State media or Sudanese news sources did not publish reports relating to the aforementioned base in Ethiopia.

Sudan has, reportedly, been training and arming thousands of TPLF fighters.

While their views about the motive of US aggressive intervention in the Ethiopian affair in a way that seem to be aimed at rescuing Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is debatable, at least, the view about incompetence that is jeopardizing Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s Administration and the need to own our politics, political processes and system.

In a latest interview with Tigray TV, Debresion Gebremicael, one of the few TPLF leaders who survived the war they triggered when they attacked the Ethiopian Defense Force and who was leading a fugitive life for most part of the law enforcement operations by the Ethiopian government, says “Tigray made history with the war.” He is employing the noun Tigray to mean TPLF forces and TPLF sympathizers.

Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) spokesperson, Getachew Reda, had an interview with BBC Hard Talk Host, Stephen Sackur. 

As he has been doing in the past, he blamed the situation in Tigray on what he called “Amhara expansionist forces and the Eritrean regime.” 

He also said that the TPLF forces would not withdraw from Afar and Amhara regions of Ethiopia and  had many more things. Take a listen.

Commander of Eastern Command of the Ethiopian Defense Force , Major General Belay Seyoum, said over 300 Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) fighters killed during the fighting on Friday. 40 others are captured.

He added that TPLF is forced to halt its advance in the Afar region which was aimed at controlling the Ethiopia-Djibouti route.

One captive said he was coerced to join TPLF forces. Another one said they were given one rifle for five.

Major General Baly Seyoum said that operation in the Eastern Front was effective. He says it does not matter if the Junta, as he calls it, is controlling this or that place. It does not matter. The point is, he said, is the junta going to come out alive from the places it controlled.

Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) forces had been pillaging towns after towns in North Wollo region of Ethiopia in the past three or so weeks, looting public and private properties.

As it turns out, they do not seem to be able to stash their loots in Tigray. Brigadier General Tefera Mamo, commander of Amhara region special forces, said the TPLF forces have suffered blowing defeats in the area between Gaint and Woldia.

The remaining forces are surrounded and they might not be able to get a way to escape.

A TPLF military commander Colonel Gebrehiwot Gebrealaf captured in Gasay town in the North Wollo and South Gondar area of Amhara region.

His capture has revealed lots of secrets including the supply of nutritious and high energy biscuit that was meant to be delivered to people in the Tigray region under humanitarian program.
